News ArchivesNew Year's MeetingJanuary 10, 2007Our first meeting of the New Year was a fresh new start for us. We began by reading our mission statement as a reminder to all of us, of who we are and what we represent. We all had so many great new ideas to share and to make the up and coming year better than the last. We set many new goals and resolutions for the whole year ahead of us. We also recapped of all of our service project outcomes from 2006, and talked about how they went and how we could better them for next time.80’s PartyNovember 15, 2006On November 15th, we had our 80’s themed aerobic workout party, held by Jessica. Each of us dressed up on 80’s attire, from side pony tails to leg warmers! We received some fun party bags with glow stick bracelets, water bottles, and sunglasses! Jessica taught us some fun workouts that made us all sweat! Then we learned some meditation techniques to cool us down. After our workout we ate a dinner of soup and salad. As soon as our stomachs were all filled, we had our usual Coffee, Tea, and Thee meeting to discuss upcoming events for the holiday season.Charity Drive for the Road Home ShelterMembers of our group organized and carried out a drive to help out those in need at the Road Home Shelter. The charity drive included clothing, appliances, and toys. Items were collected at our church, and local areas throughout the community.Scarves For the ElderlyFor the holiday season, the Lilies made scarves for senior citizens at the Magna Senior Center. In order to make these scarves, lilies member Mary, educated us on how to crochet. We learned a basic stitch to create over 30 scarves for the elderly! Each lily who has learned how to crochet will use this skill to further help the community.Holiday Gift GivingThe Lilies have also decided to make Christmas wreaths for the holiday season to give out to members and visitors of the church. The wreaths have been made personally by the Lilies, and include different spiritual meanings behind the traditional Christmas wreath. |
